Emily, I glad it wasn't just me that had to work at getting a podcast going. But nice job. And I had not considered the idea that podcasts would be useful for pre-readers. That is something to consider.
It's more work than I'd want to do, but I could see how a tour of the library podcast would be worth having as part of a orientation package for incoming students. Parents may want to visit a school, but that isn't always possible on a regular basis - I can see where you could use the podcasts to show off your library.
Hey, this was fun! As I listened to your podcast, I totally thought it would be a fun project to do a collection of photos (stop-motion fashion) to walk into the school and walk through the library as you talked. Heck, I might just do that for one of my podcasts!
Andy, I like the idea of adding photos and making it a video blog in the future. I think it would be really helpful for kids to see a picture of where the books are as I talk about each section.
Great idea! I may have to encourage my librarians on this idea. Pictures would be great, but I see that as another lesson! Someone needs to do a tutorial for us!
Emily, Well done podcast! I could picture the different areas of your library as you talked about them. Did you get a new layout/theme for your blog?
Have you thought about the possibility of using podcasts as a way to review books for pre-readers? Like a book talk? or have students record book reviews Reading Rainbow style...(think) "You don't have to take my word for it-"
Even though I know your library well, this helped me to make more sense of the layout. Your script was well-organized, and the recording very clear. I knew that podcasting through Blogger would be more difficult, so I'm impressed with your tenacity in getting it uploaded. You and all of the Blogspot folks deserve an extra round of applause!
I really liked your podcast. I think that's a wonderful way to use the tool. I was thinking that it would be a good way to have students do book reviews of their favorite books too. I've always done book reviews on paper, but I think the kids would get a lot more excited about doing it if they could record their voices and add illustrations or video.
Great job! I loved your podcast; it was well organized and easy to visualize. Robin Young, our ITS, introduced me to podcasting this past semester and I am very excited about the possibilities for at-home learning AND in-classroom applications.

Book talks would be a great use for podcasts - even for my upper grade readers!

Emily,
I too am a great fan of your podcast! What a great idea about adding the podcast to your orientation package too!
After reading all of these comments, I am starting to see a few more uses of podcasting that we all can use as educators.
Thanks for the inspiration!
